The Mouth Cancer Foundation will benefit from the opening of a brand new restaurant, Indu's in Twickenham.

Restaurant owners Sunny and Kamni Dhown could think of no other charity they would wish to support when their restaurant opens as they know first-hand how awful mouth cancer can be.

Sunny and Kamni's mother, Indu, (the restaurant is named in her memory), died of mouth cancer in January 2006, aged 65.

They wanted to open a true family restaurant with a difference.

So they have created a venue which provides people with fine food, excellent service and a warm family friendly environment in which to relax whilst also getting the chance to make a difference.

Sunny says: 'I have decided to support the Mouth Cancer Foundation very simply because of the horrific experience my family and I went though. The feeling of being helpless, as Mum fought mouth cancer, was truly awful.

'Therefore, if I can be of help in terms of helping to raise awareness or fundraising, then I am only too happy to help. The experience has left a very deep scar on my family and we want to try and make something positive of this awful situation. It only seemed right to name the restaurant after my mother, who was not only an inspiration to me but to everyone who met her.'

Indu's offers a menu of traditional home cooked Punjabi food with no frills.

Kamni Dhown has been appointed the executive chef and in keeping with the family tradition, is cooking recipes which have been passed down through many generations; this is what makes this restaurant so distinctive. The restaurant's interior is contemporary with clean lines, specifically designed to ensure that each customer receives the ultimate dining experience within a comfortable and luxurious environment.

Long-term, Indu's plan to make annual financial contributions to the Mouth Cancer Foundation and also plans to raise funds through the restaurant.

The founder of the Mouth Cancer Foundation Dr Joshi says: 'We are very grateful when companies decide to support the Mouth Cancer Foundation. We are a small charity working hard to raise awareness of mouth cancer and its symptoms. Any money raised by Indu's will go towards helping patients and carers via information available through our website. The Mouth Cancer Foundation supports Indu's whole-heartedly.'
