New dental practice opens in Bristol

A new dental surgery was officially opened in Bristol last month.
Local MP for Bristol West, Stephen Williams, and Jill Shepherd, NHS Bristol's director of commissioning, cut the ribbon at the Oasis Dental Care practice on Neath Road in St George.
The practice, located in a converted church, has 10,000 NHS dental places available to residents throughout Bristol and is the last of five new practices that NHS Bristol has commissioned for the city.
Jill Shepherd said: ‘Our aim was to ensure that patients across Bristol have access to an NHS dentist and we have done so. The five practices combined offer over 50,000 new dental places for people – a massive increase.
‘It's wonderful to see these new surgeries, based in the community, providing dental care for patients in brand new locations.'
The new practice boasts modern equipment and has taken on more than 2,500 patients since January.
The experienced team includes four dentists, one therapist and six dental nurses.
Justin Ash, chief executive of Oasis Dental Care, said: ‘Oasis will be working closely with NHS Bristol to deliver on our plans to improve the dental services available in the area.
‘Our aim is to lead the way in improving the standard and quality of dentistry. To date, we've heavily invested in our practices through a rolling programme of extensive improvements and refurbishments to ensure we offer the best in patient care and meet legislative demand.'
