Unconfirmed reports suggest that the next dean of Guy's and King's Dental Schools in London will be an American, Dr Dianne Rekow.

She will succeed Professor Nairn Wilson, who is due to retire shortly.

Dr Rekow is currently provost of the Polytechnic Institute of New York University and NYU senior vice-provost for science and engineering.

She was also installed as president of the International Association for Dental Research (IADR) in April this year.

She is a professor of orthodontics and of basic science and craniofacial biology at the New York University and has been practising orthodontics since 1985.

So does this mean that there are no other competent British candidates to take over or is it just a new trend of importing American "Super cups" and "Super Deans" ?

I have known Dianne Rekow for more than 20 years and Dianne will be an excellent Dean for Guy's and King's Dental Schools in London. Dianne Rekow has done an excellent job in her many leadership roles within the IADR, AADR, NYU and NJSMD.

Having also known Dianne Rekow for more than 20 years I would like to endorse the preceding post by Eddy Lynch and I wish her good fortune in the position and I hope that the 'new blood' will be better appreciated in the fullness of time. She is an able and talented Lady and she does not really need my help to make her mark.
