Susan Cunningham, professor of orthodontics at the UCL Eastman Dental Institute (EDI), has been awarded the Mature Educator Certificate for excellence in dental education by the Association for Dental Education in Europe (ADEE). The award was presented by Professor Richard Oliver at the general assembly of the ADEE meeting held in Antalya on Friday 9 September 2011.
Professor Cunningham's many educational commitments include programme director of the world-renowned ‘MClinDent in orthodontics' programme at UCL EDI, and chair of the ‘SAC in orthodontics'.
Her role as chair of the British Orthodontic Society's (BOS) education committee currently includes overseeing the re-development of the ‘National orthodontic virtual learning environment' into a powerful, interactive learning tool for orthodontic trainees and trainers across the UK. A former chair of the BOS university teachers' group, Professor Cunningham also held the position of director of education at UCL EDI from 2002 to 2004.
