Crucial data for measuring success
8th Sep 2005The Colgate Oral Health Month campaign is using crucial data from the British Association for the Study of Community Dentistry (BASCD) to target areas for outreach programmes. The BASCD surveys measure the dental caries experience of five and 14-year-old children in England and Wales, enabling Colgate’s campaign to include outreach sampling programmes in 15 areas of high caries in five-year-old children. Colgate was delighted to present the plans for the 2005 Colgate Oral Health Month at a recent meeting of the BASCD Consultants Group. This presentation gave an overview of the campaign elements, objectives and measures for Colgate Oral Health Month, demonstrating how the four key areas of the campaign link together with the key overall theme, ‘fighting together for better oral health’. The four key areas are: • Outreach and Education – Sampling in communities • National media – press, TV and radio to drive awareness • Dental professional – dental practice participation • In-store activity supermarket participation. The group congratulated Colgate on its OHM initiative and congruence of public health message. Colgate Oral Health Month, in association with the BDA, runs throughout September.
