A cross discipline academy inaugurated

Amidst much rumour and speculation the International academy of advanced facial aesthetics (IAAFA) launched this month. There has been an huge increase in the uptake of procedures in facial aesthetics in recent years, particularly following on from heightened media attention and the on-going trends in the United States. Indeed, more and more dentists are becoming aware of the influence that dental rehabilitations can have on the overall facial appearance likewise, patients are increasingly seeking advice from dentists as well as plastic surgeons and dermatologists. The IAAFA aims to unite all dental and medical professionals providing treatments within the realms of facial aesthetics, i.e. from cosmetic dental Ssurgeons, oral-maxillofacial surgeons and dermatologists through to ENT and plastic surgeons. Elected president Dr Bob Khanna BDS, is no stranger to the world of facial aesthetics due to his innovative approach, and widely published knowledge on the subject of non-surgical facial rejuvenation with Botulinum Toxin (BTX) and facial dermal fillers. Coupled with the unprecedented success of his pioneering hands-on courses over the last six years, teaching many eminent dentists, medical doctors and plastic surgeons, he has subsequently gained tremendous respect amongst both professions in the UK and internationally, a truly unique achievement. Dr Bob Khanna emphasises the importance of maintaining consistent and productive dialogue with the Healthcare Commission in light of imminent regulatory guidelines. With reference to dental surgeons, he believes it is vital that they are appropriately represented and duly respected for their unique skills in performing not only advanced reconstructive and aesthetic dentistry but non-surgical facial procedures e.g. Botulinum Toxin (BTX) and dermal fillers.
