Premier Symposium review

The 7th annual Premier Symposium was held on Saturday 1st December at King's College. 300 delegates registered for the event which has become something of a landmark in the dental calendar, with many delegates having attended all the earlier ones.
The Premier Symposium is jointly organised by Dental Protection Ltd and Schülke, and is recognised as a leading forum for dental risk management, cross infection control and health and safety issues. It also provides the backdrop to the Premier Awards which are given to dentists and DCPs in recognition and support of research and projects into these topics during the previous twelve months.
The day was chaired by Dr. Kevin Lewis, Dental Director of Dental Protection who commented, “The success of the Premier Symposium is based on two essential components; the calibre of speakers and relevance of the topics to our audience. With extra capacity now available at the venue we shall look forward to welcoming even more delegates next year.”
The premier symposium 2007 featured the following speakers:
John Meechan : Local Anaesthesia- Facts, risks and controversies
Helen Till : Emergency! The team approach to recognising and managing medical emergencies
Jane Bonehill : In Harm's Way- Induction training issues for new team members
Jeremy Bagg : Changing Risks in a Shrinking World- global infective threats and their increasing relevance for UK dental surgeries
Callum Youngson: Are modern restorative techniques reducing or increasing the prospect of complaints and litigation?
Planning for next year's Premier Symposium is already underway.
