A free day-long seminar that will focus on the buying and running of a dental practice takes place next month at the BDA HQ in Wimpole Street in support of dental charity Heart Your Smile.
The speakers are:
Thomas Coates, partner at Cohen Cramer Solicitors
He will discuss the process of buying a dental practice, how to incorporate your dental practice, the complexities of a purchase agreement, the importance of using a dentally aware firm of solicitors. Thomas is a partner and heads up the dental team at Cohen Cramer Solicitors. He has particular experience in dental transactions with a focus on practice sales and acquisitions, incorporations and drafting the full range of commercial agreements including Expense Share Agreements, Shareholders Agreements and Partnership Agreements.
Sarah Buxton, Cohen Cramer
Sarah will discuss whether one is really self employed or not and advise you as to what should be in the contracts enabling you to protect the goodwill of your practice and to ensure that one really is self employed. Sarah specialises in dental employment law, drafting associate agreements, contracts of employment and staff handbooks. Sarah deals with Employment Tribunal cases and also advises on non contentious issues such as all aspects of disciplinary, redundancy and grievance procedures.

Lis has worked in the dental sector for many years and for the past four years has focussed on the sale and purchase of dental practices. She is able to offer a depth of understanding in what does and does not work and which pitfalls are best avoided!
