A dentist couple have joined runners in a massive feat to raise funds for charity.

Victoria, 33, and Dai Woodsford, 35, husband and wife, dentists from Cardiff, are raising money for Brain Tumour UK by taking part in RelayGB – Britain’s first world record attempt for the most non-stop marathons.

RelayGB is an ambitious challenge that will see hundreds of runners covering 3,100 miles in 119 non-stop, back-to-back marathons in May 2012, while raising £500,000 in aid of Brain Tumour UK.  Between them Dai and Victoria, of Greenfield Dental Care, ran 52 miles on May Bank Holiday, bringing the relay into Wales over the Severn Crossing, through Cardiff and up over Caerphilly Mountain.

Victoria said: ‘Wet and bedraggled I limped into Newport, a quick handover to Dai (with several mates braving the elements to cheer me in and him out) and he was off.  I couldn’t believe the torrential rain as he ran, undaunted, up the mountains out of Cardiff to his finish line.’

Team Greenfield, as they call themselves, has signed up to this world record attempt as part of a year of sporting commitments and community projects aimed at raising awareness of fitness and good overall health.

Now Victoria is flying out to Nepal to compete in the world’s highest marathon that starts at Everest Base Camp.

Brain Tumour UK is the leading, caring charity committed to fighting brain tumours by providing support, funding research and raising awareness. Despite two people being diagnosed every hour in the UK with a primary brain tumour, only 2% of all cancer research funding in the UK goes to brain tumour research.

‘We are delighted to be able to help raise awareness for this super charity in addition to being part of such an exciting event,’ said Dai.
