A dental nurse from Liverpool's Alder Hey Hospital has won a trip of a lifetime to fly out to Africa to help patients in need
Bridge2Aid run a competition for dental professionals to win a place on their Dental Volunteer Programme (DVP).
Judged on the Saturday of the Dentistry Show – and with more than 20 entries – the lucky winner was Lyndsay McGrath.
She said: 'I am still in shock, I never in a million years expected to win. I just thought I would have a go but I knew loads of people would enter so didn't think I stood a chance. I was gobsmacked when I received the call but thrilled. Winning is like a dream come true, I have wanted to go for years so to be given the opportunity is amazing. I feel honoured to have been chosen and really hope I can make a difference to a person's life. I really can't wait to go.'
The Bridge2Aid Dental Volunteer Programme (DVP) was developed to allow qualified dental professionals to pass on their skills to local health care personnel in Tanzania.
We will keep you updated on Lyndsay's adventure when she travels over to Tanzania later on in the year.
