The Windsor Cup

The Windsor Cup – a dental medical charity sailing regatta – starts with social activities all based in Cowes, on the Isle of Wight.

Entry is available to all dentists, doctors, and vets and raises funds for the Jubilee Sailing Trust (JST).

This wonderful charity helps disabled people experience the inspiration of sailing.

The main sponsor is Henry Schein, in conjunction with the Royal London Yacht Club and the Royal Yacht Squadron.

This year it will take place on Friday 5 September and Saturday 6. Action starts on Friday evening with a reception on the Cowes waterfront at the Royal London Yacht Club.

Participants have a chance to meet all the other competitors and an explanation of the schedule is usually followed by an excellent curry dinner.

On Saturday there are traditionally two races, morning and afternoon, with only a short lunch break between each event.

The major prize is the Windsor Cup for the best yacht based on handicap.

The cup is open to both cruisers and racing boats, but despite considerable endeavour during the racing, the focus is really on having a good time whilst raising money to help disadvantaged people experience the pleasure of sailing.

The prize giving is held on Saturday night at the prestigious Royal Yacht Squadron.

This year there will be a separate cup, for the best new entrant.

This is not only an enjoyable regatta but it is supporting a noble cause and your profession needs you to give our medical colleagues a good contest.

The Windsor Cup has generated over £90,000 for JST in the last six years with the support of health professionals and the generous sponsorship from Henry Schein.
