Following eight years of R&D, smartseal was launched commercially in 2007 as a radically different root filling material that helps to improve endodontic results. Its two-part system comprising smartpoint and smartpaste is designed to be easy and quick to use, requiring no change of technique, no additional equipment and providing excellent long term results.

smartpoint is designed to be rigid on insertion into the root whereupon it absorbs water from the tooth tissue and swells laterally only, adapting to the shape of the canal. Once a seal is created, the point will stop swelling and has controlled hoop strength preventing root fracture. When hydrated the point is soft, allowing the practitioner to prepare the tooth for further treatment. Its radio-opaque core allows the practitioner to check the point in situ before finalising the patient’s treatment.

smartpoint pro is the world’s first laterally expanding multiple taper point that fits the diameter of a prepared canal at ALL depths. Specifically intended to match existing file and shape systems, its ingenious design helps practitioners achieve better results using tools they know and like.

smartpaste is a resin-based paste which is also designed to swell upon hydration to fill any voids or cavities in the canal. The degree of swelling can be controlled by the amount of active polymer used. With good handling qualities, smartpaste is supplied in syringe format with mixing trays.
