Read what dental professionals have to say about Biodentine.
Biodentine is a material that, for the first time, allows a dentist to achieve biomimetic mineralisation within the depths of a carious cavity. Our microscopical analysis has shown significant dynamic interactions between the material and tooth tissue. It has the potential to revolutionise the management of the deep carious cavity in operative dentistry, whether or not the pulp is exposed. It is a totally new foundation on which to build the long-term restoration of a tooth.

Biodentine finally provides us with a material that closely resembles lost dentine and has the potential to promote, rather than just allow, healing of the pulpitic tooth resulting from caries or leaking composites. Biodentine, unlike other sedative dressing materials, is also compatible with the final composite restoration, making it an important addition to the clinician’s armamentarium.
Sophisticated biosilicate technology and 100% biocompatibility make Biodentine the perfect Root canal repair material. With its improved handling ability and quick setting time Biodentine offers considerable advantages over other similar materials. I cannot recommend it more highly.

I was shown Biodentine at an opportune moment as my wife was complaining a pain from a cracked tooth. I had been introduced to this product by Diane, a dental representative, who showed me evidence to support its use. My wife’s cracked tooth had its restoration removed and Biodentine placed. Since that moment she has had no symptoms from that tooth and the tooth can be crowned with the assurance that further symptoms are very unlikely. I have continued to use Biodentine in several patients and have been impressed by the results.
It has several applications which range from a pulp cap to repairing a perforation of a root furcation. The material is easy to mix as it is comes in a capsule to which a liquid is added and then placed in a capsule mixer for thirty secons. Handling of the material is also quite easy. Biodentine is definitely a material I will continue to use and recommend as a valuable addition to the practice.

We have recently started using Biodentine in cavities where patients were complaining of mild pulpitic symtoms and in those with small exposures, to great effect, in that the vast majority of symptoms disappeared.
I have been pleased with the results so this product has been adopted as a permanent feature in the treatment of carious cavities.

An 18 year old patient presented at my practice with deep distal
caries on a vital upper second molar tooth, and was returning to
university three days later.
An x-ray showed the caries as being very close to the pulp, and I
was concerned about a carious exposure in this young patient.
I removed as much of the caries as I felt practicable, without
exposing the nerve, and placed Biodentine in the cavity, and saw
the patient again at her next term holiday, two months later.
The tooth had remained symptom-free, and I was able to place a
definitive restoration over the Biodentine, which was left as a base
in the cavity.
I know of no other material, which would have resulted in such a
satisfactory outcome for my patient.

As an endodontist, I have used Biodentine for repair of perforations and as a retro grade
material.
I have found it a very easy material to handle and clinically successful.
I have no qualms in recommending it to my colleagues.

I found Biodentine to be a most valuable tool when confronted with deep decay. I have placed Biodentine on numerous deep cavities rather expecting the patient to return needing endodontic treatment only to find patients comfortable due to the
resolution and healing achieved. The teeth could then be restored with fillings. .

I have used Biodentine for a very deep cavity in a lower second molar as a last attempt on
a patient who I knew would be a far from ideal candidate for endo. "It worked a treat" The tooth has been symptomless ever since.
