Byrnes Dental

Situated in the heart of the Oxfordshire countryside but with the motorway just five minutes away, Byrnes Dental Laboratory offers the clinician some of the best work available, on time and with an incredible level of service

Here at Byrnes Dental Laboratory we offer crown and bridge, implant and prosthetic work. We specialise in high-end cosmetic dentistry, complex implant cases, and advanced prosthetics and attachment work. We have an extremely talented group of technicians with a wealth of experience between them.

Optimal results
Our aim as a laboratory is to provide optimal results for the clinician and, ultimately, the patient. We started trading in 2006 with just five in the team. In three years we have grown to have a technical team of 11 with a support group of five and two apprentices. Last year we won ‘Laboratory of the year’ at the Private Dentistry awards. It was a fabulous moment for us and this year we were awarded ‘Dental Laboratory Member of the Year’ by the Dental Laboratories Association and the ‘3i Biomet Platinum
award for outstanding services to implant dentistry.

The perfect working environment
When Byrnes Dental Laboratory was set up by the father and son team of Anthony and Ashley Byrne, the dream was to find a building with character that could help us to create the perfect working environment for a laboratory.

The barn is set on a farm in the heart of the Oxfordshire countryside in peace and tranquillity, yet resides five minutes from the M40 and A40. The 200-year-old building provides space, perfect lighting and character, but is filled with modern, state-ofthe- art equipment, benching and air-conditioning. We feel this combination provides us with a perfect working environment, which means a happy team of technicians and support staff, thus raising the quality of the work.

A service that is second to none
We pride ourselves on the service we offer and in the past built our reputation on this ethos. Clinical and customer support is paramount within the laboratory. We take our level of service to new heights, from our marketing right through to our complete track and trace courier delivery service.
Our administration team is as critical to the laboratory as the technicians, and Jacqui, Mandy or Vanessa are always to hand to assist you and ensure all of your cases run smoothly and arrive on time in perfect condition.
The technicians in our laboratory are all available to chat to you, ensuring you speak directly to the person working on the case. our technicians have laptops and flat screen computers, as photography has become one of the greatest tools of the 21st century. Whether we are working from photos taken at the surgery or taken by ourselves within our state-of-the- art patient consultation area, complete with 1920s red leather and chrome dental chair, they ensure we can provide the highest quality of product for your patients.

When patients attend the laboratory for a shade, we aim to make the visit an experience by offering a tour of the laboratory, as well as explaining the work involved and the procedures to assure patients that they are getting work of fine quality, bespoke to their requirements. We take great pride in our work and our results have been published in many magazines and journals in the UK and the rest of Europe.

Committed to the best in equipment
When we set the laboratory up, we made a pledge to use only what we felt was the best equipment on the market and that had been scientifically proven to be the best.

On site we have the outstanding etkon CAD/CAM system from Straumann alongside the Procera from Nobel Biocare, as well as using the out-house milling centres of 3i Biomet Architect and the Astra Atlantis system.

Within the laboratory we use three digital SLR cameras to document work for courses, lectures and articles. Any case can be photographed in detail at no extra cost to the clinician. Ashley has lectured all over Europe independently, as well as for Straumann, 3i Biomet and Nobel Biocare, and is now running courses, for both technicians and clinicians, in the laboratory with topics ranging from over-dentures on implants to photography and lecturing.

We are just launching a study club within the laboratory, which is kindly sponsored by suppliers and has 30 delegates attending meetings bi-monthly. Not only are the study clubs a fantastic way to learn and acquire CPD points, they are also a way to share ideas and work on better dental relationship within the team.

In 2009 we also started organising international conferences for clinicians. ‘Extreme implants’ was our first week-long conference in Val D’lsere, skiing and snow-boarding while managing to fit in 10 hours of CPD. It was a resounding success, with many delegates saying it was the best conference they had ever attended. Sitting by an open fire after a day skiing, glass of wine in hand and listening to a lecture is certainly a nice way to learn.

More than teeth
So, while Byrnes Dental is a dental laboratory, we offer a great
deal more than just teeth. From the highest level of service to our
conferences and courses, from our photography to our one-toone
service, Byrnes Dental is more an experience than just a
simple order form.

Our aim is to improve and advance our knowledge
continuously, and offer the clinician some of the best work
available, on time and with an incredible level of service.
