KODAK Digital X-ray Sensors with Intelligent Positioning
Trophy, the manufacturing division of KODAK Dental Systems, were the first in the world to develop the X-ray digital sensor in 1983 when they launched their RadioVisioGraphy (RVG Sensor), and since that date have lead the way in dental digital imaging technology and innovation. The Kodak 6100 digital sensor which is available in Sizes 0 1 and 2 delivers the highest resolution images (20 line pairs per millimeter) in its class ensuring that every detail is visible for the dentist to make a confident diagnosis.
KODAK Dental Systems launched the market’s first Wi-Fi sensor that delivers best-in-class intraoral image quality and resolution with unmatched portability that can support multi-chair practices with the convenience of a cable-free setup. We waited until we were confident that the Wi-Fi technology that we would partner with our sensor range was in itself fast, reliable, secure and could operate over a reasonable range so as to allow full portability.
Trailing cables are a concern in a busy practice in that they can interfere with the dentist’s movements around the chair and can also disrupt items on the work tops. The less cables around the better! With the Kodak RVG6500 wireless Sensor there is no wired connection between the sensor and PC, eliminating the obvious obstructions as well as improving patient comfort. The sensor's compact design facilitates integration and use wherever it is needed in the practice.

Kodak RVG 6500 Wireless Sensor work flawlessly with any PC and for even greater portability and convenience, it was the first dental radiography system to be compatible with Apple iPhone and iPod touch platforms. Users are able to download the RVG mobile application from Apple’s App Store—enabling them to easily acquire, view, adjust and store images directly on their iPod or iPhone with just a tap of the iPhone/iPod touch screen. Image enhancement can be processed directly on the iPod/iPhone to optimize image quality, and a transfer application also allows images to be downloaded from an iPod or iPhone to a PC.
Intelligent Positioning System: The Right Image the First Time
The unique Intelligent Positioning System (IPS) is available as an option for the KODAK RVG 6500 System and enable users to accurately align the sensor to get the right shot each and every time. Practiced use of sensor holders, as well as the correct choice of sensor size in itself should negate positioning errors however in some instances dentists will appreciate the help of this new positioning aid.
The system guides the operator during positioning using a target that appears on the chairside monitor. When perfect alignment has been achieved the display reacts with a signal and the dentist can then leave the room and activate the x-ray with the confidence that the sensor alignment is on target. The process minimizes the risk of cone cuts, missed apices, angulations errors and most other alignment mistakes without the need for cumbersome positioning devices. When using the KODAK IPS system most dentists use a simple tooth brush holder to position the sensor.
