Dairy Council launches ‘slurp and chew’ healthy teeth campaign

The Dairy Council launches an educational campaign today (Monday) plugging milk and cheese as the ‘healthy teeth’ option.

Called Slurp & Chew Your Way to Dental Health, it’s accompanied by a 30-second animated promotional film that will air in at least 160 dental surgeries across the UK, and will reach an estimated audience of more than 1.3 million throughout 2008.

The short animation can also be viewed at www.milk.co.uk.

Dr Judith Bryans, director of The Dairy Council, said: ‘We are very excited about this campaign, as it will help to educate consumers on how milk and cheese can benefit their overall dental health.

‘These dairy products contain calcium and phosphorus, which are important for the growth, development and health of teeth. With regards to dental health itself, milk is one of the few drinks that are safe to have between meals, and a small piece of hard cheese chewed on its own after meals can actually help reduce the risk of tooth decay.’
