Nice teeth – shame about the gums

The cosmetic dentistry industry may be booming yet while patients are forking out on whitening treatments and the like, many are neglecting their gums.

This week is Gum Disease Awareness Week, sponsored by OralClens Natural, which aims to draw attention to the commonly overlooked condition.

It affects three out of every four adults over the age of 35 and it’s estimated that more than 90% of al adults will have some form of gum disease in their lives and for 50% it will begin during their teens.

To coincide with the week, research commisioned by OralClens Natural, has revealed that 44% of people from Bristol suffer with bad breath – commonly a problem linked with gum disease.

As it’s possible to have gum disease without showing any symptoms, many patients often neglect to treat it although regular check-ups obviously help.

• The OralClens Natural range of dental hygiene products is made with 100% natural ingredients and boasts that as it is one of the few oral hygiene products that contains no alcohol, can act as a preventative measure against gum disease due to the fact that alcohol is one of the triggers of sore and bleeding gums.

The range has also recently been accredited with Vegetarian status by the Vegetarian Society.
