Non-registered dentist prosecuted

The General Dental Council (GDC) has successfully prosecuted a Bristol dentist for practising whilst off the register.

Dentist Stuart Folland pleaded guilty to carrying out dental work from January 2006 until October 2007 despite being removed from the Dentists Register in January 2006 for non-payment of the annual fee.

Mr Folland was fined £400 and was ordered to pay the GDC’s costs of £1,548.

GDC Chief Executive and Registrar Duncan Rudkin said: ‘The General Dental Council’s priority is to protect the public.

‘We can do this by taking action against individuals who practise illegally.

‘Dental professionals must meet the high standards the public expect of them.’
