It’s the final countdown

The Dentistry Awards ceremony is coming…

Congratulations once again to all those practices, teams and dentists who have been shortlisted – now there is just a short but tantalising wait to find out who is the winner of each category.

The special-guest compere for this year’s ceremony will be comedian Paul Thorne, one of the UK’s most assured stand-ups and a resident member of the Cutting Edge team that perform weekly at London’s heralded Comedy Store.

His presence along with the 1970s entertainment theme is sure to provide a fabulous night of celebration.

The event will be taking place on Friday 4 December 2009 at the Athena in Leicester,
starting with a drinks reception before moving on to a three-course dinner and then the awards ceremony itself.

The Athena was designed in 1936 by Robert Arthur Bullivant as an Odeon Cinema. The venue represented one of the largest, most extravagant buildings within the region and housed simply one screen with seating for more than 3,000 guests.

It was then subdivided into four screens in the 1960s but suffered a downturn in later years and remained closed throughout much of the 1990s. However, the building has now been restored to its former art deco glory and is the perfect venue for such an annual celebration as the Dentistry Awards.

If you are on the shortlist and haven’t yet booked your tickets, make sure you do so quickly. Even if you have not been shortlisted, you could still make this excellent night of entertainment your practice’s Christmas party!
