A medley of dental lectures

Philips is renowned for bridging the gap between scientific advancements and technological breakthroughs and has demonstrated a long-term commitment to integrating the latest academic and clinical expertise and consumer insights into new product development.

One of the ways in which this is manifested is through the organisation of educational symposia and lectures to present the latest academic research which advances dental professionals’ understanding of the many microbiological, genetic and lifestyle factors influencing periodontal disease as well as aspects of practice development, patient behaviour and medico-legal issues.

Philips’ events are presented by some of the UK’s most influential, opinion-leading dental professionals and the resulting conclusions enable delegates to go back to their practices motivated to introduce new and novel methods for patient treatment and maintenance.

In the next few months, the company is arranging a series of events around the UK, so that dental professionals need not travel too far to obtain high quality verifiable CPD.

Amarjit Gill
Dental professionals based in Birmingham, Glasgow and Belfast will be able to book onto one of three day-into-evening courses featuring top speakers Dr Amarjit Gill, Professor Robin Seymour and Shaun Howe who have billed their talk ‘Professional and profitable perio’.

The Birmingham event is on 3 November, Belfast is on 14 January 2011 and Glasgow 11 March 2011.

The events will feature a medley of lectures and break-out groups and aims to help foster a deeper understanding of the business of periodontology from clinical, business and medico-legal perspectives.

Dental voyage
Another series of day-long courses is being staged in Exeter and Aberystwyth and is bringing a team of four speakers to these areas – dentist Jason Greenwood and top hygienists Ann Gilbert, Shaun Howe and John Stanfield aim to take the whole dental team on a voyage of dental discovery in an interactive day long event with the intriguing title the ‘Journey is the reward’. The Exeter event is on 6 November and it being run in Aberystwyth on 20 November.

Those living and working in Hertfordshire will also be well served by Philips early in 2011, when on 5 February Drs Rahul and Sonia Doshi who specalise in high-end aesthetic and restorative dentistry will be offering their peers an insight into the world of makeovers.

London dental professionals will soon be able to find out more about a future event planned in collaboration with Dr Wyman Chan about the results of clinical studies into tooth whitening and a date for this will be published imminently.

Finally, future dentists have not been left out and a dental school tour for 5th year dental students begins in London in the next academic year in September and will be rolled out to every dental school by the end of 2011.

The lectures will be presented by Dr Mani Bhardwaj, a leading aesthetic dentist and a highly motivational speaker. Dr Bhardwaj is a young, successful and entrepreneurial dental practitioner who became a principal dentist in only three years

As Tricia Rawsthorne, professional relations manager for Philips, says: ‘We are so committed to continuing education for dental professionals at Philips that we have subsidised and, in some cases, fully funded these courses to ensure as many people as possible can attend and that costs are kept to a minimum.

‘The least we can do is also provide food and refreshments at each event as we appreciate the time professionals are sacrificing to attend such events Early birds will also be offered the chance to win a top of the range Sonicare to encourage their participation.

‘Delegates also will be sent an electronic CPD certificate immediately after each event to ensure their education portfolios are kept up to date.’

A new website has been set up to make it easy to find out more about all these events and make bookings on line, so please visit www.positivecomm.com/events.
