Dentists gear up to London Marathon feat

There will be 111 dentists pounding the streets of London this Sunday (17 April).

They are just a fraction of the 46,698 runners taking part in this year’s Virgin London Marathon 2011.

Sixty eight male dentists and 43 female dentists have hopefully been in training for the mass race predicted to attract half a million spectators along the 26.2-mile route through the capital, from Blackheath Park/Greenwich Common to The Mall.

Among them, husband and wife David Woodsford and Victoria Kenney, joint owners of Greenfield Dental Care in Dinas Powys, South Glamorgan, who will be joined on the run by former Welsh rugby international James Bater, who is an associate at the practice.

Statistics from the organisers also reveal that 68 ‘dental assistants’ will be joining the throng – eight of whom are men and 27 women.

The London Marathon is expected to attract more than one million spectators.

Good luck to all dental professionals taking part – and let us know how you got on!
