Applicants must have a strong commitment to patient protection and the promotion of confidence in the regulation of dental professionals to ensure the GDC continues to regulate effectively.
There will be an equal number of dental professional and lay members and the GDC is required to have at least one member who lives or works wholly or mainly in each of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
The regulation of healthcare professionals in the UK is undergoing major change and Government expectations about regulation are likely to result in significant changes in the way the GDC operates. Council members will play key roles in the strategic development of the organisation and strategic performance management.
