Young Dentist Endodontic Award deadline extended

Ambitious young dentists who want to make their mark as a skilled clinician have until the beginning of October to take advantage of the Young Dentist Endodontic Award: the closing date for entries has been extended to 1 October 2014.

Launched in 2012, the award is now in its third year and open for young dentists who can demonstrate their skill in carrying out an endodontic procedure.

The sponsors of the award are QED, Dentsply and DP Medical who, between them, have committed £3,000 worth of prizes. The judges are Julian Webber, founder of the Harley Street Centre for Endodontics, his colleague Trevor Lamb and Professor Andrew Eder, professor of restorative dentistry and dental education at the UCL Eastman Dental Institute and associate vice provost.

The competition is to find the best case presentation of an endodontic treatment. The judges are not necessarily looking for the best outcome but the best attempt at treatment supported by references as well as the entrant’s insight into their diagnosis and technique.

Julian said: ‘We have had some great entries in the past two years and I have been very impressed by the abilities and commitment of the young dentists who made it to the award event. If you think you might have a case presentation you would like to share, don’t hesitate, just enter.’
