General Dental Council looking to appoint new committee

The General Dental Council (GDC) is seeking to appoint a new appointments committee, comprising a lay chair and three members (one lay and two dental professionals).

The GDC, which regulates dental practice in the UK, aims to protect the public by ensuring dental professionals are fit to practise.

One of its key functions is to investigate concerns about individuals’ fitness to practise and to take decisions on appropriate action.

Such decisions are taken by statutory committees composed of lay people and dental professionals appointed by the Appointments Committee, which is independent.

The GDC is keen to attract candidates who understand regulatory processes and have the knowledge, skills and experience to ensure the appointment of high calibre statutory committee members.

Further information and details on how to apply can be found at www.harveynash.com/gdc.

The closing date is Friday 26 September 2014.
