Applying psychology and health to dentistry

netherlands1The sixth annual conference of the Association for Researchers in Psychology and Health (ARPH) is set to take place over 2-3 February 2017 at the Museum Volkenkunde in Leiden, the Netherlands.

Hosted by the health, medical and neuropsychology unit of the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences of Leiden University, the conference aims to provide delegates a platform to exchange research findings and innovative approaches concerning the field of psychology and health.

By meeting fellow researchers throughout the field, the conference will provide ample opportunities to exchange ideas and form collaborations.

With a programme dedicated to exploring health and psychology, sessions will address topics such as placebo and nocebo effects on health, psychological factors influencing pain perception and making healthy food choices.

Dental hygienist, social psychologist and Oral Health contributor Yvonne Buunk-Werkhoven will be presenting a dental take on Friday 3 February with her poster ‘From another perspective: awareness of the importance of optimal oral health among the healthcare consumer’

In addition to the inspiring lecture programme, the conference also offers delegates the opportunity to experience all the great things that Leiden has to offer, including its lively city centre with characteristic canals and waterways, its rich and glorious history and culture, and its long-standing academic tradition in the oldest university of the Netherlands.
