The British Society for Advanced Dentistry (BSAD) announced the appointment of its new president, Dr Nigel Jones, at its most recent conference in London.
The BSAD is a society providing an academic forum for general dental practitioners with post graduate diplomas. A conference was hosted in central London on the theme of bone augmentation with special guest speakers from around the globe.
The conference was held at the Mondrian Hotel in London and featured challenging presentations from spokespeople including Dr Stephan Berger (Germany), Dr Isabella Rocchietta (Italy), Florian Draenert (Germany), and Paulo Carvalho (Portugal). A hands-on practical session followed the presentations on the weekend of the conference where participants practised bone and soft-tissue grafting techniques.
The BSAD, formerly known as British Society for General Dental Surgery (BSGDS), was formed in 1983 and reformed in 2015, when the society merged with the Implant Diploma (FGDP) Alumni.
The society now offers opportunities for cross discipline discussion, audit and peer review of provided treatments, as well as opportunities for active training and development of younger graduates who commit to further study.
Excellence in advanced dentistry
‘It is a privilege and honour for me to be appointed as the new president of the society.’ said Dr Nigel Jones.
‘It is also a very exciting time to be at the helm of the society. The BSAD is committed to the vision of our former colleagues who brought about the FGDP and now has aspirations to inspire excellence in advanced dentistry by becoming the alumni of the proposed College of General Dentistry. In the meantime, we are making plans for the Spring conference in Crete, and next year’s annual conference in Birmingham. We continue to welcome all colleagues who hold (or are training for) a diploma-level qualification or higher and have a commitment to advanced dentistry.’
