A rough guide to orthodontics to achieve seamless care

The British Orthodontic Society is offering a one-day course in orthodontics aimed at recently qualified dentists and those new to working in the UK.

To be held at the BOS HQ on February 1st, this is an excellent line-up of speakers, both specialists and consultants in orthodontics ready to share their knowledge and experience with dentists who want to feel more confident in orthodontic assessment, diagnosis and referral management.

They are:

Richard Jones– covering timing of referrals, appropriate choice of provider and interceptive treatment options and how to refer.

Peter Huntley – covering Invisalign, lingual and restorative-linked cases (bone creation, recession reduction, gingival margin modification, space redistribution), and the importance of the partnership between the specialist and the GDP.

Nigel Fox – covering IOTN, Aesthetic and Dental Health components.  What to look out for prior to referral.

Joe Noar– covering the perils and pitfalls of short term orthodontics

Sue Power, Chair of the BOS Education Committee said: ‘Our aim with this course is to support dentists, especially those new to the profession, who want to diagnose and refer with confidence or who may want to embark on further training but would like a better understanding of what the specialty involves. We hope this course will be the first of many.’

Numbers are limited so early booking is advised to be sure of a place and to get the early bird fee of £100. After November 30th the fee goes up to £140. Lunch and refreshments are included.
