Ioannis Papadopoulos wins prize for paper on bone grafting

Ioannis Papadopoulos of Royal London Dental Hospital is joint winner of this year’s Schottlander BSSPD Oral Prize for his paper presented at this year’s BSSPD conference, held in Liverpool.

The paper, entitled ‘Bone Grafting Needs for Hypodontia Patients Undergoing Dental Implant Treatment at a UK Dental Hospital’ analysed those situations in which patients with hypodontia required bone grafting and those where patients could instead be treated with shorter implants.

The paper concluded that in hypodontia patients, the majority of implants, especially in the anterior region, will require augmentation.

In presenting the prize, Dr Brian Schottlander complimented him on producing this extremely helpful analysis.
