Dr Hirani, who has a practice in Milton Keynes, Smilelux, was the only candidate from the UK to sit the exam, which took place at the 8th WSLO congress in Barcelona last month.

A panel of lingual examiners assessed Dr Hirani’s cases, considering their difficulty, standard of records, efficiency of treatment, outcome and post-treatment stability.

Only 246 individuals have passed this difficult exam worldwide and Dr Hirani is the only consultant-trained specialist in the UK to hold this esteemed qualification.

As chairman of the British Lingual Orthodontic Society (BLOS), he is committed to raising the profile of lingual orthodontics in the UK.

Their next event in November is a one-day workshop with Dr Alexander Gebhardt on How to Prepare 2D Lingual Cases, followed by an evening lecture.

‘It’s the first time that BLOS has run a hands-on workshop and we’re excited to have such a prominent orthodontist flying in from Germany to share their experience,’ he said.
