Building our ‘Disney Land’

The newly built custom-built home for The Campbell Clinic and Campbell Academy Just weeks away from the opening of his custom-built home for The Campbell Clinic and Campbell Academy, Colin Campbell describes what goes into creating an advanced facility for dentistry and dental education.

We call it ‘Disney Land’. That is our code name here at The Campbell Clinic.

We have been building this for years, at least in our minds. The Disney Land reference comes from a famous urban myth about a time when Ralph (Walt Disney’s son) opened a Disney World in California.

His father had died a short while before the complex opened. A member of the press asked: ‘Wouldn’t it have been great if your dad could’ve seen this?’ Ralph Disney replied: ‘My Dad saw this 25 years ago.’

On the south side of Nottingham immediately inside the A52 ring road, we are building a new dental facility to house the Campbell Clinic, the Campbell Academy, our research projects and our dental laboratory.

We call it a new practice but other people have called it a facility.

The process has been, at best challenging and at worst, beyond anything I could have intellectually imagined.

This article is intended to give you an insight into the process we have got through so far in case you are interested in a project such as this and how it may help you in anything you may take on yourself.
