Online CPD Dentistry Show launches in support of the NHS

Online CPD Dentistry ShowThe first Online CPD Dentistry Show will launch this 15/16 April, giving you a year’s ECPD from the comfort of your own home. Profits from the event will go to the NHS and the great work it is doing during the coronavirus crisis.

Thanks to Oral-B we’ve been able to create the UK’s first live CPD event to support the profession and the NHS.

Attending the Online CPD Dentistry Show will give delegates nine hours of ECPD across two days. Delegates will hear from leading speakers from around the profession all for free.

The leading line up of speakers at the Online CPD Dentistry Show includes:

  • Chet Trivedy – medical emergencies
  • Nicky Benbow – disinfection and decontamination
  • Jimmy Makdissi – radiography and radiation protection (including IR(ME)R update)
  • Philip Lewis – oral cancer
  • Pat Langley – safeguarding children and young people/safeguarding vulnerable adults
  • John Makin – legal and ethical issues
  • Leo Briggs – handling complaints.

‘We love the NHS and we want to support it as best we can,’ Ken Finlayson, CEO of FMC, says. ‘To do this we’re launching a major online seminar, the biggest ever in UK dentistry. The Online CPD Dentistry Show will cover all core ECPD subjects, as well as other subjects of interest.

‘It’s completely free to join the seminar. Profits from the Online CPD Dentistry Show will go to the NHS, so please get behind this initiative. Visit dentistrystudyclub.com to book on, get the required CPD and get behind our NHS, all at the same time.’

Online CPD Dentistry Show

FMC’s Enhanced CPD Dentistry Shows are some of the most well-attended shows in the dental calendar.

Delegates say it is a great way to get their year’s ECPD all in one go, also describing speakers as high quality, impressive and entertaining.

This is the first Online CPD Dentistry Show FMC has put on and is available across two days that delegates can register for.

‘We wanted to do something innovative to help the NHS and dentists during the coronavirus crisis,’ event director at FMC, Leanna Ellis, says. ‘This way dentists can get their year’s ECPD in one go, all while they may be unable to attend the practice. But, by attending the Online CPD Dentistry Show, you will also be helping fund the vital work our frontline NHS staff are doing.’

#lightitblue

As part of FMC’s campaign to support the NHS, Dentistry.co.uk and all FMC titles will join the #lightitblue initiative.

Around the country famous landmarks, sports clubs and publications are showing their support by ‘lighting up’ in NHS blue. Dentistry.co.uk is changing its colours from red to blue to show its support.

‘This is a great initiative to help show our admiration for the superb work our NHS staff are doing,’ Seb Evans, Dentistry.co.uk editor, says. ‘We will endeavour to bring you the most up to date news as it happens. But in the meantime we can’t forget the great work our NHS staff are doing on the frontline.

‘During this tough time Dentistry.co.uk will go NHS blue to show our support.’

Get involved

In addition FMC is launching an Instagram initiative – and wants your involvement.

We are asking individuals, practices and businesses to post a simple blue square on Instagram. This is to show their support for those helping fight COVID-19.

Amy Molony, social media manager for FMC, says: ‘Social media can be a positive way to spread messages of solidarity. It shows workers and volunteers that we greatly appreciate their efforts.

‘By posting a blue square to Instagram and challenging others to also #lightitblue, we are not only saying thank you but showing the NHS there is a strong community supporting its hard work every step of the way.’

Craig Welling, FMC’s commercial director, says: ‘Small gestures at this time can make a huge difference to morale.

‘While we can’t all get involved with frontline efforts, we can demonstrate our support and gratitude for those working hard to fight this pandemic.’
