PPE concerns

This comes as the British Association of Private Dentistry (BAPD) calls on the government to change PPE requirements for UK dentistry.

New primary care requirements include social distancing, increased levels of PPE and a fallow period to allow for viral settling in the surgery setting.

But addressing Public Health England (PHE), the open letter argued the current guidance ‘is having a detrimental effect on the standards of achievable dental care’. As a result, it says it could have ‘potentially disastrous’ consequences for the profession.

The group is calling for a change to the 60-minute fallow period currently required. Additionally, they are urging PPE requirements to be reconsidered.
