Has lockdown got you feeling like you can’t be there for your patients?

Amo Sohal will discuss how digital technology will future proof patient care in dentistry on Sunday 17 January at 19:00.

Let’s not beat around the bush and consciously accept the fact that 2020 took all sectors by surprise. Dentistry included.

We are now living in the information age, where information and data is everything.

How can we make informed decisions? We must have information and data to make such decisions.

How can we assist our patients’ problems and concerns when we have limited information streams available to us such as email/text/phone calls? With many patients now also reluctant to leave home – how are we able to help with limited information?

We must have more data – this is what dental check-ups are for! Dentists are visual people!

This is where technology can help us. Embrace technology to gain more data from patients and offer an enhanced level of care. The technology is here and available in extremely user-friendly ways (for dentists, dental practice staff and patients alike).

Join me as I discuss how I embraced technology – and in particular a ground-breaking AI-driven system – to accurately help me be there for my patients with limited staff and resources around me due to the initial closure of dental practices.

At the end of day, we all want the best for our patients. Therefore it is a detriment to patient care if we did not consider how technology can increase our level of care.

Not only did our practice survive, but began to thrive. Particularly once dental practices could re-open, ensuring safety was maintained. We built on these systems and they are now the backbone of our practice with the underlying intention of offering the greatest level of service for our wonderful patients.

More about Amo Sohal

Prior to becoming a dentist, Amo Sohal completed his degree in biomedical science at King’s College London, which he attained at the age of 21.

It was at this time that he was first exposed to dentistry. Having always wanted to pursue a career in science and helping people, dentistry seemed the perfect path.

Amo completed his dental degree in 2014 in Prague following on from his BSc. Following this is where the hard work truly began after countless job rejections as a newly qualified dentist.

He went door to door handing out his CV and eventually found a practice in Crawley, where he began as a receptionist, working for free, before making his way up through the practice.

During this time, he worked as a dental nurse, a hygienist and finally a dentist. In 2016 an opportunity arose to buy the practice, which he grabbed with both hands.

Dr Amo’s experience working his way up through the practice was invaluable.

When he bought the practice, he began to add his own input and learnt from the mistakes he had previously made and witnessed.

Amo is now the co-founder of an award-winning dental practice. He has been nominated as a finalist at the prestigious Private Dentistry Awards 2017-2019 and The Dentistry Awards 2017-2019 for Best Young Dentist.

Outside of the clinic he lectures alongside industry leaders to dental teams and has appeared in numerous articles.

Dr Amo strongly feels the best investment is self-investment. He continues to embrace his thirst for learning by undertaking ongoing further studies in dental-related areas.
