Boxly launches dental AI receptionist in UK market

On 2 October, UK health tech start-up Boxly launched an AI-powered receptionist designed to transform patient communication and reduce admin pressure on practices.

The innovation was revealed at Unbox the Future in Soho, London. The event was headlined by Jason Bradbury, one of the UK’s best-known technology presenters and former host of The Gadget Show. Bringing his trademark energy, Jason introduced Boxly’s AI Receptionist to an audience of dental and healthcare leaders and shared why he believes this innovation matters.

He said: ‘AI is everywhere, but the best technology is the kind that understands people. That’s why I’m excited to be part of Boxly’s launch – because they’re not just creating smart systems, they’re reshaping how dentistry connects with patients. Boxly is proving that even in automation, empathy matters – and that’s exactly the kind of future I want to help build.’

His words captured the ambition behind the launch. Unlike a standard chatbot, Boxly’s AI Receptionist works around the clock, handling patient enquiries with treatment-specific responses, booking appointments directly from a practice diary, and following up across channels such as WhatsApp or social media. It gives patients a seamless experience while helping practices reduce missed leads and potentially double their website conversions.

Keeping people at the centre

Boxly CEO Elliot Hamilton said the company’s goal was to design a tool that keeps people at the centre: ‘Dentistry is under pressure like never before. Practices need tools that are reliable, easy to use, and that treat people as individuals – not machines.

‘Nobody wants to deal with a system that gives the same response to every patient. Boxly was built with clinicians, for clinicians, so it delivers intelligent, personal communication that patients trust and teams can depend on every day. By removing repetitive tasks, we are giving dental teams time back to focus on care.’

Early adopters

That commitment was echoed by early adopter, Anushika Brogan, CEO and founder of Damira Dental Studios, who commented: ‘We are delighted to be among the first poised to adopt AI Receptionist following its launch. As we have seen tonight, AI Receptionist is intuitive and reliable, and my team and I are excited to see how it will reduce admin while enhancing the patient experience across our practices.

‘For us, it shows how technology can make an immediate and positive impact, and how it can support teams to do more of what they do best for patients.’

Industry voices welcomed the wider significance. Dr Barry Oulton, dentist and consultant, added: ‘Boxly’s arrival is a welcome innovation for the sector. By tackling the administrative challenge head on, it allows practices to focus more fully on patient-centred care and to deliver a smoother journey from first contact through to treatment.’

With Boxly, dental practices gain a partner that never stops improving, providing intelligent technology that evolves with the profession to deliver more patients, less admin and a better experience for all.
