Tech innovation with a human touch is a winner for Treeline Dental Group

Treeline Dental Group shares its strategy for success, from technological innovation to supporting employees.

Embracing the latest technology in dental delivery, while ensuring every patient and staff member is treated with compassion, is the challenge Treeline Dental Group set itself at the outset – and the standard the team hold themselves to now. It’s paid off and if 2025 goes to plan the group, headed by husband and wife co-founders, Jimmey and Navjit Palahey, will be able to count a total of 56 surgeries over 14 sites run by 250 staff members.

Treeline is a significant SME dental employer in the East Midlands, remarkably Treeline has also managed to do this whilst serving over 90,000 people from the full diversity of the local community, seeing primarily NHS patients (60%) versus private clients.

This community-serving approach has allowed Treeline to offer treatments beyond general dentistry. Additionally specialist care, intermediate minor oral surgery (IMOS), urgent care, supporting community dental services (CDS) through child-friendly practice initiatives and working with seldom heard patient cohorts, are just as much a priority.

Fresh from scooping the Dentistry Industry Award for best Dental Practice Corporate Group at the end of last year, Treeline’s co-founders reflect on finding the ‘sweet spot’ between delivering the best in high-tech dentistry whilst also ensuring an inclusive reach.

Jimmey Palahey, co-founder of Treeline Dental Group

‘We were thrilled to be recognised at the Dentistry Industry Awards recently and it was a moment for us reflect on exactly what it takes to be recognised as the best corporate dental group in our category – whilst also delivering for every patient and member of staff.

‘I passionately believe that everyone deserves to receive good oral health care and with the current crisis in dentistry in the UK we are determined to do what is within our power to support the most vulnerable patients, whilst also delivering only the best care for everyone. Yes, we invest in cutting-edge technology and private dentistry, but we also prioritise making a positive difference in the communities we support.

‘We are working towards a Gold Award with the Armed Forces Covenant supporting employment for veterans and recognise the Defence Discounts Service. Research projects in collaboration with NIHR are focused on looking at the systemic benefits of the dental work we do.’

Treeline Dental Group’s strategy for excellence

Employ the best

Treeline is proud to be clinician led, meaning that those with dentistry training are in charge of business decision making. The team care passionately and this is reflected in the emphasis on education and nurturing the future of the workforce. Support and training are priorities and the group’s clinical directors have ensured Treeline’s reputation for investing in staff progression through development.

Training matters at every level and in 2018 the group won an East Midlands Apprenticeships award. Mentoring and training are core to Treeline’s approach, both ‘on-the-job’ for junior staff and through and the dental fundation training (DFT) and dental core (DCP) pathway. This nurturing approach rewards the group with staff loyalty from a talented team who all work the ‘Treeline’ way.

Embrace the tech

Dentistry innovation and technical advancement have been paramount as the Treeline Dental Care group has expanded. This significant investment in technology, which can be seen within every clinic, has included moving towards digital workflows through intra-oral / CBCT scanning and treatment planning software.

Consider the individual

Central to Jimmey and Navjit’s philosophy has been to see each person as an individual, and tailor a support approach in each case, whether that is for patients, employees or the most vulnerable in the community.

The ability to see a significant number of patients within the group’s NHS contract means that Treeline can welcome in hard to reach patients. Also, the group’s commitment to their team’s pastoral care, with mental health first aiders across the business and support for the local dental committee PASS scheme to assist clinicians who find themselves in difficulty, reflect Treeline’s compassionate approach to every individual.

Jimmey Palahey said: ‘I believe this compassionate approach combined with striving for excellence is what has helped us stand out from the crowd and develop into the multi-award-winning business that we are today. I am both proud and grateful to be surrounded with such a talented team who share this vision.’
