Dentistry reveals the winner of its Next Top Digital Dentist competition and outlines the exciting journey to come.
Dentistry is proud to announce that Dr Sheena Tanna, principal dentist at Billericay Dental Care, has been named Dentistry’s Next Top Digital Dentist 2025.
This brand-new competition, run in collaboration with Align Technology, set out to find an enthusiastic, digitally minded dentist ready to embrace digital transformation, integrating the latest tools and innovations to reimagine treatment planning and enhance the patient experience in 2025 and beyond.
After a nationwide search and a judging process led by Sandeep Kumar, Raman Aulakh and Gemma McMullan, Sheena stood out as the winner.
Speaking about her win, Sheena said: ‘It feels amazing to be recognised for something that I’m genuinely passionate about and really relate to.’
Looking ahead to the next steps, she shared her excitement for the learning opportunities included in the prizes: ‘I’m really looking forward to the mentorship and the different courses. As a principal, you’re a leader. You’ve always got to have a decent team, but they’ve got to have excellent leadership. So, if I can learn, grow and develop, then I can bring that back to the practice and help my team grow, and together we can then make an experience for our patients.’
A career built on innovation
Sheena has been the principal dentist at Billericay Dental Care for more than a decade. During that time, she has overseen the practice’s growth from three to six surgeries, with a focus on building a modern, digitally integrated environment. Her leadership combines a commitment to clinical excellence with a strong belief in using technology to improve communication, treatment planning, and the patient journey.

In her entry video, Sheena summed up her philosophy: ‘Picture a dental visit where you can see your future smile in full 3D before treatment even begins.
At Billericay Dental Care, that’s not a promise for tomorrow, that’s what we’re doing right now. The future of dentistry isn’t coming. It’s already here.’
Alongside her clinical role, she has invested in her own development – completing a clear aligner diploma with Raman Aulakh to build her clinical confidence and reshaping her business approach after attending Sandeep Kumar’s Mastering Your Invisalign Business course.
These investments have helped position her practice as a Platinum Invisalign provider, fully equipped with state-of-the-art scanners, CBCT imaging, intraoral cameras and more.
About the competition
Dentistry’s Next Top Digital Dentist was created to spotlight dentists who see the possibilities of digital technologies and can demonstrate how these tools can be integrated into everyday practice. Designed in collaboration with Align Technology, the initiative offers the winner a 12-month journey into the future of dentistry, with access to tools, training and mentorship that can accelerate digital transformation. This journey is intended to provide Sheena with the skills, tools and confidence to embrace a fully digital workflow.
The prize package includes:
- Loan of an iTero Lumina intraoral scanner for 12 months
- A structured 12-month programme of coaching and mentoring from Align Technology and special guest coaches
- Exclusive training opportunities, including Invisalign Live 2025, Aligner Dental Academy courses, and Mastering Your Invisalign Business with Sandeep Kumar
- A scientific education trip to Align Technology’s manufacturing facility in Wroclaw, Poland
- Complimentary tickets to the Private Dentistry Awards 2025
- Marketing and communication support, including social media coaching and ready-to-use Invisalign and iTero assets
- Media exposure across Dentistry’s platforms to amplify the winner’s personal brand.
Looking ahead
As the first ever winner, Sheena will use the coming year to expand her digital journey even further. With access to an additional iTero Lumina scanner, she plans to introduce 3D scanning capabilities into every surgery at Billericay Dental Care, ensuring every patient benefits from a digital-first approach.
Her journey reflects what Dentistry’s Next Top Digital Dentist is all about: combining clinical expertise, innovative tools and leadership to raise standards across the profession.
Reflecting on her hopes for the year ahead, Sheena said: ‘It would be really nice to be able to show clinicians how digital dentistry will make their lives easier and improve the patient journey. If I could inspire even a few colleagues to start their digital journey, I’d be really proud of that. That’s my aim for the next year.’
