GC’s LabScene goes on the road with LabScene Live!

GC provides a brief look back at this summer’s LabScene Liv events and a question – who wants more?

This summer, GC launched their inaugural LabScene Live events – a series of educational networking evenings with guest speakers and live demos, held in Manchester, Birmingham and London.

Born out of a desire to bring the UK dental lab community closer together and to provide a rare opportunity to take time out from the lab and exchange ideas and skills.

It was also the perfect opportunity to showcase GC’s expanded Initial Zirconia Solutions Portfolio with this year’s launch of the Zirconia Multilayer Elite disk.

Three evenings

  • Birmingham on 19 June, with Mark Bladen
  • Manchester on 26 June, with Peter Harling and Lisa Johnson
  • London on 3 July, with Stefan Roozen and Joao Paulo Martins Esturrado.

The stats!

  • Three similar events, each made unique by the presenters and demonstrators attending
  • Three characterful locations
  • Six skilled technicians at the top of their game, supported by an experienced and knowledgeable GC team
  • Four keynote lectures
  • 10 live demonstrations
  • 80 participants.

The verdict

Across all three events, attendees awarded a 4.5-star average score for whether the CPD activity had greatly improved attendees’ knowledge and understanding of the topic area.

The comments were also overwhelmingly positive:

‘Staining the white state zirconia was the most useful part of the CPD.’

Ian Bracher, Birmingham

‘Lovely proactive time to share points of view that can be taken into account in daily practice.’

Sandra Portillo, Manchester

‘The stain techniques were particularly successful. I am very new to it and haven’t seen zirconia veneers before or seen the technique.’

Barry Hirst, Manchester

From the GC team’s point of view, it was the atmosphere and the obvious appetite for learning new skills that left the biggest impression. The aim had been to bring the UK dental lab community closer together and enable new connections and partnerships. Looking round the room at each event, especially during the demonstrations, it felt like they might have achieved this.

And now the burning question is: should they do it all again?
