New NASDAL lawyers group chairman elected

Specialist dental lawyer Andrew Lockhart-Mirams has been elected as chairman of the NASDAL lawyers group.

The achievements of the NASDAL lawyers group have already been significant and include the development of a standard contract for the sale and purchase of dental practices. The document of more than 80 pages covers all the issues associated with a dental practice and Andrew has led on its development.

Founder of the London-based law firm Lockharts, Andrew has specialised in healthcare issues for more than 30 years. His firm of more than 20 staff work exclusively in the healthcare sector and, in 2011, Andrew became the only solicitor ever to be entered on the British Dental Association’s roll of distinction for outstanding services to UK dentistry.

Ray Goodman is the retiring chairman of the group and was thanked by NASDAL’s overall chairman, Nick Ledingham, for his hard work. Andrew Lockhart-Mirams commented: ‘Ray and I will continue to work closely together and I look forward to continuing to raise the standard of advice and support that NASDAL lawyers provide to dentists.’

‘One of my first tasks will be to challenge the “budget packages” offered by some non-specialist lawyers and which result in an incomplete service. Because they are unrealistic, we cannot compete with these packages price wise but we do find ourselves picking up the pieces down the line.’
