The British Lingual Orthodontic Society (BLOS) have announced that Dr Sunil Hirani has been appointed as the committee’s new Chairman.

Sunil has been a key member of the BLOS committee for 10 years and takes over from Dr Ian Hutchinson, who has now stepped down from BLOS duties.

Practice principal and specialist orthodontist Sunil is an avid user of lingual fixed appliances at SmileLux, a multi-award-winning specialist orthodontic practice in Milton Keynes.

He is also an active member of the orthodontic community and throughout his career he has presented to dentists and orthodontists in the UK, Europe, Asia and USA.

Sunil recently returned from a week-long stay in South Korea, where he had the opportunity to work closely with Professor Lee and the orthodontic team in Seoul. This proved to be a fascinating experience and one that Sunil is looking forward to sharing with fellow BLOS members later in the year.

BLOS study clubs

In the meantime, planning is underway for BLOS’ upcoming lingual study club on Thursday 16th November in London. Sunil, comments: ‘BLOS study clubs are a great way to meet like-minded colleagues and share knowledge in a supportive, informal environment. We are delighted that Incognito clinical advisor Dr Steffen Decker will be joining us at November’s meeting to deliver a presentation on ‘The power of Incognito and digital workflow’. It promises to be an interesting and informative evening for lingual orthodontists.’

‘This event will also provide the perfect opportunity for us to meet our members face-to-face and announce our plans for BLOS. Our biggest priority over the next 12 months will be to engage our members and find ways to enhance their membership, above and beyond existing benefits such as supplier discounts.’ adds Sunil.

Tickets are on sale now via Eventbrite priced at £15 for members and £25 for non-members. All of the proceeds will be donated to BLOS’ nominated charity CLAPA. Tickets available here.
