Following this, Christina Chatfield also called for government action to save private dentistry, highlighting how some practices are ‘fighting for survival’ at the moment.

GDC will not make changes to ARF payments

The General Dental Council (GDC) will not make changes to ARF payments in response to COVID-19, it has confirmed

Whilst many companies around the world are pausing payments and direct debits for customers in the wake of COVID-19, the GDC has decided to take a slightly different path. Despite dental practices unable to open their doors for the last couple of months, the GDC is not amending or waiving its annual retention fee.

Law firm launches legal challenge against CQC on behalf of private dentists

Laura Pearce is a solicitor at JFH Law, which has launched a legal challenge against the Care Quality Commission (CQC)

JFH Law meanwhile, on the back of offering indemnity to private practices in Scotland who wish to reopen, has decided to launch a legal challenge against the CQC for prohibiting private dentistry during the COVID-19 pandemic.
