‘Vital’ dentists are allowed to return to work, says MP
On Monday Esther McVey said it was ‘vital’ dentists are allowed to open practices. She urged the government to put together a timetable for the appropriate plan of future care.
‘Fighting for survival’: calls for government action to save private dentistry
Following this, Christina Chatfield also called for government action to save private dentistry, highlighting how some practices are ‘fighting for survival’ at the moment.
Setting up a private urgent dental care hub during the COVID-19 pandemic

Scotland’s CDO reveals ‘return to work’ plans for dental practices

CDO responds to BAPD’s vote of no confidence
The BAPD tabled a vote of no confidence against the Office of the Chief Dental Officer earlier this week. Sara Hurley, CDO for England, has reacted to this telling Dentistry Online that since its inception, the BAPD has not spoken with the Office of Chief Dental Officer for England.
GDC will not make changes to ARF payments
Whilst many companies around the world are pausing payments and direct debits for customers in the wake of COVID-19, the GDC has decided to take a slightly different path. Despite dental practices unable to open their doors for the last couple of months, the GDC is not amending or waiving its annual retention fee.
Law firm launches legal challenge against CQC on behalf of private dentists
JFH Law meanwhile, on the back of offering indemnity to private practices in Scotland who wish to reopen, has decided to launch a legal challenge against the CQC for prohibiting private dentistry during the COVID-19 pandemic.
