Dental news you’ve missed this week

Missed out on this week’s dental news? No problem, here’s what happened over the past seven days…

CDO’s webinar

The chief dental officer for England is hosting a webinar in light of the coronavirus crisis

The coronavirus is still dictating how we live our lives right now and this is reflected in the news we’re reading. To help in our search for information on where we stand and what happens next, the CDO for England is hosting a webinar today at 17:00 for the dental industry.

Dentists help in the fight against coronavirus

Rhona Eskander helping during the coronavirus

Whilst this crisis is going on, there have been some inspirational stories of dentists doing what they can to help.

Here to help

Chief dental officer for England, Sara Hurley, is calling on dental teams to complete a survey to assist effective redeployment in face of coronavirus crisis

The England CDO is also asking how dental teams feel they can be effectively redeployed to help, whilst Claire Berry has launched a petition to use dental practices for COVID-19 testing.

Dentistry’s guides

Dentistry.co.uk has put together a guide to staying stress free during the COVID-19 crisis

We are doing our best as well to provide guides for things to do during this period. The first is how to maintain your dental equipment whilst the practice is shut. But it’s also important to remember to look after ourselves. This is why we’ve pulled together a guide to staying stress free.

For those answering calls in practice, we have a guide on the advice to give to patients suffering from toothache at home. And we have a quick summary on how the government’s VAT referral plan will impact dental practices.

#lightitbluewithdentistry

In support of our NHS, Dentistry.co.uk, along with our other FMC titles, turned blue this week. We also launched our viral campaign to turn Instagram blue(#lightitbluewithdentistry), so please get involved.

Practice profits

Statistics reveal the profit gap has widened between NHS and private practices

Elsewhere we saw the news that the profit gap is increasing between NHS and private practices (however the data was before the coronavirus outbreak). A study also shockingly found some baby formulas contain more sugar than soft drinks!

Cashflow has never been more important.
