Dental news you’ve missed this week

Missed out on this week’s dental news? No problem, here’s what happened over the past seven days…

Coronavirus webinar

A summary of the CDO's coronavirus webinar for the dental industry

On Friday evening last week, Sara Hurley, the CDO for England, hosted a webinar to keep the profession up to date with everything that’s currently happening. Here is our summary of what was covered. And afterwards many of you reached out to us to give your thoughts on the webinar.

Following the webinar, dental teams received clarification over their role and how they may be redeployed during the crisis.

Private dentistry

Neel Kothari speaks about the future of private dentistry in the face of coronavirus

This week a number of groups have been set up looking for more support for private dental practices, with many questioning whether private dentistry has been abandoned altogether. Rangewell has gone one step further, calling on the Treasury to channel a rejected £50m grant into dentistry.

Online CPD Dentistry Show

FMC is also doing everything it can during the coronavirus pandemic. That’s why, as well as lighting up blue, thanks to Oral-B we’ve been able to create the UK’s first free-to-subscribe CPD event to support the profession and the NHS – the Online CPD Dentistry Show. This will give you a year’s ECPD all in one go, completely free! With profits from the show going to the NHS.

The response to this initiative has been phenomenal, with thousands of you signing up within the first 24 hours.

Mental health hotline

The NHS have started a mental health hotline for frontline staff helping with the coronavirus pandemic

For all those staff struggling at this time, the NHS has launched a free mental health hotline. There is also a text service available 24 hours a day.

Cashflow has never been more important.
